The Pendulum Swings

“The Pendulum Swings”

Yes, the pendulum swings and we as a people – as a society – as a legislature – appear to travel from one extreme to the other – particularly in regards to or for the safeguarding of human rights. Moderation or balance – it seems – is for those who are willing to intrude upon or ignore – the ideological purview of the extremist or absolutist.

We once boasted free speech and this critical right is (obviously) a significant part of our constitution. However, in the mid-1950’s McCarthyism branded those who spoke disparagingly of their beloved government (even if the intention was purely remedial) – as subversives! Free speech –

here in America (Land of the free and home of the brave) Where life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is our credo) – once meant a total absence of boundaries regarding pornographic material – bestiality, pedophilia, scat were once permitted under the auspice of free speech. Now – satiating your sexual appetite over the internet (even when it doesn’t involve children being abused) – means being targeted by the FBI or other unscrupulous groups using Machiavellian means to besmirch or discredit anyone with whom you disagree ideologically. Or whom – you simply have concluded (in the complete absence of facts) is or are guilty of some sort of mendacious activity.

Free speech now means – an unfettered, arrogant intrusion into your voyeuristic sex life — yes, by the FBI (having “ventured” on to the “wrong website”) while on your laptop – having you laptop “frozen” (in the complete absence of due process) and being labeled a sexual deviant (and no doubt a threat to the weal of society).

In my particular situation – having my laptop frozen by the FBI – caused a significant rift in my relationship – with my “so called family”. The freezing of my laptop caused me irreparable damage regarding my brother and sister-in-law – due to the fact that my computer was on his business network. And attempting to garner the “services” of an attorney – due to the violation of my civil rights — which has resulted in my inability to create a Business Blog (to attempt to generate income) – to educate myself – to carry-out research for my writing projects and yes – to satiate my sexual needs as a harmless voyeur! (No attorney will represent a sexual deviant! And by “your” standards – that’s exactly what I am! A “P.P” – Proud Pervert!)

The pendulum does indeed swing. But there are significantly more important issues to deal with:

We have the wonderful and critical Geneva Convention – which I believe are the rules of warfare. And the humane treatment of P.O.W.’s. Of course in the case of a horrific nuclear strike – rules of military propriety and/or civility are “vaporized” along with flesh, bone and sinew. The outcome of which – as is the usual case – are many, many dead babies, radioactive fallout, which has global implications – and in an extensive exchange of nuclear weaponry – not only does the Geneva Convention become obsolete – so does Mankind.

Two hundred and fifty years of slavery, apartheid and even now – centuries later – we still must contend with abject discrimination. Will we ever grow up? And now – in order to attempt to compensate minorities and women for our ill treatment of them – we have introduced reverse discrimination (affirmative action.). (We are truly race of (essentially well meaning) nincompoops.)

We lowered the standards to accommodate women in the police, fire and military workforce. This is an injustice for men who were previously deemed qualified for positions due to lack of strength or vigor. (Trust me – there are many women who possessed what was previously required of them – before standards were lowered to accommodate them.) No, I’m not a misogynist – I simply seek equal treatment for everyone.

Yes, the pendulum swings.

Not too long ago illiteracy was as common as and/or abundant as nitrogen. Even a “rudimentary” education was for the wealthy.

12 years to obtain a useless high school diploma.

4 more years in college to obtain an entry level position as an assistant manager at a hot dog stand.

2 to 6 more years to obtain a PHD, to be a psychiatrist or to specialize as a surgeon.

Not too long ago I suggested “raising the bar”. I still feel that way. However, what you teach and how you teach it is well — antiquated and quite literally unreasonable. There is already an informational deluge – And Twenty to forty years into the future – the age of information will lead to more and more physicians, engineers and scientists to be more and more specific concerning their areas of expertise. This inevitable deluge of knowledge – will result in more and more specialization.

One of the points I am attempting to emphasize is that more information can and will one day be taught and in half the time; once we accomplish several objectives:

Once we understand better how children, preteens, teens and “adults” learn.

Once we locate talents and to attempt to match them with specific fields.

Once we create teaching techniques that inspire rather discourage children from learning.

Once we learn to teach more of what is needed and in half the time.

Considerably reducing the cost of education while turning-out more qualified individuals.

Once we’ve created a system in which fields pursued connect with the anticipated needs of individual communities – yes, even of states. (In science, technology in general, biotechnology, engineering and so forth…) with prospective majors and/or intended degrees.

Yes the pendulum swings:

Not too long ago if you stole a horse or rustled cattle you were hanged.

Now the attorneys are running the “show”. The legislators (who are all too often attorneys) are creating laws which are intended::

To perpetuate crime and to maintain chaos on the streets.

To distract “us” from the real bad guys.

To redistribute wealth.

To maintain political control.

To terrorize anyone who has accumulated wealth, who is an honest, competent (or incompetent ) professional – where personal (financial) liability must be safeguarded.

To help to perpetuate the insurance “industry”.

To – allegedly – with good conscience – protect the rights of the accused (assuming that you can afford it.).

To perpetuate all aspects of and related to the “the legal and/or criminal justice systems; To include prisons and jails, firearms, security systems, yes – insurance, the exorbitant cost to our healthcare system, the cost of maintaining a police force, the court system and legal defense, on and on and on…

As a direct outcome of our the mentality of our legislators and the efforts of attorneys – organized crime is flourishing. Predatory recidivists are walking the streets – literally raping and pillaging. Hard-working, law-abiding citizens – most of whom are attempting to raise a family – are providing those who are incarcerated with desiderata. (Yes, they foot the bill) – yet cannot walk the streets in broad daylight – in their very own neighborhoods.

We once protected the lives of the unborn children with a fanaticism. Yes, now in the name of “women’s reproductive rights” – which in essence places the ability to behave irresponsibly – sexually and to wait far too long to “abort” — before the child’ right to life! Children – yes, unborn children are not treated as a tissue extraction – but with the very same malice and forethought used when removing a a malignant tumor. No one dares scrutinize the the aftermath of the brutal dismemberment – the murder of a child who is singular, unique and imbued with God-given talents and abilities – who might – if permitted the fundamental right to thrive – become a virtuoso, a luminary, a healer or a prophet.

Yes, the pendulum swings.

The mentally ill who were once lobotomized, vilified, yes – brutalized — are now often resistant to prosecution (having committed a heinous crime) and as such are granted preferential treatment. Those with dual diagnosis ( mental illness and substance abuse) are mollycoddled – placed on disability and can and do – often go through life benumbed and at the expense of the already struggling middle class tax payer.

(The damage “they” are costing this great Country is incalculable!!!)

No one is held accountable anymore! Families (who are capable) simply do not contribute (in any manner) towards the care of their elderly parents, siblings, or immediate relatives!!! (The burden on the healthcare system is extraordinary.)

The pendulum swings.

Once you could “lovingly” slap your rambunctious child on the backside to get his or her attention.

Now such a “remedial act” can result in criminal prosecution. (There is a significant difference between child abuse and moderate and loving discipline.)

A healthy robust economy to economic globalization and the significant loss of jobs overseas – yes, compounded by a flood of illegal immigrants – who are curiously either being exploited by profiteers or who are dichotomously being granted an unfair “equal partnership with our citizenry”.

(Yes, we have lost our collective minds.)

Governmental regulations (red tape) which were once practically non-existent – have become a gadfly, an albatross and a hindrance towards our economic, social and legal viability.

Taxation has gone from a patriotic and social (personal) obligation – to preserve our high standard of living – to what is now perceived as the redistribution of wealth and the irresponsible squandering of meager tax revenues. We cannot even keep up with the interest paid on our National debt.

Government – which was once modest and manageable – has become a Leviathan.

So called entitlements which were once used as a safety net, for the mentally ill, the infirm, the elderly and retired – who lack the means to provide themselves with a subsistence – has transformed into a blood-sucking, parasitic monster – that is killing us through attrition.

Crime which was once socially and personally debilitating has become a National security risk and a disgrace.

A once relatively insignificant National debt which helped stimulate the economy and was once considered essential — is now pushing us towards financial insolvency.

Truth which was once objective — has become subjective and those of us who espouse “it” – have become — well — one big pain in the ass!

Yes, the pendulum swings.
