Representative Democratic Republic

Okay – let’s be brutally honest – are Americans really capable of making competent enlightened decisions regarding the administration and/or running of this very large complex Country? Are people in general even capable of properly and competently controlling and regulating their very own comparatively simple lives? How many voters even know the fundamentals concerning the political system that has granted them the very freedom to ignore the right to cast a ballot – to ignore the crucial and rudimentary privilege to vote? Can they reasonably and decidedly make decisions about which toothpaste or toilet paper to use? How many can even adequately define the differences ideologically and/or politically between out “two party system”? Do “they” honestly know the differences that separate Republicans and Democrats – Conservatives and Liberals? Do “they” really know what characterizes the socialist, the Communist or even the Capitalist? Do “they” understand the “ists” and the “isms” that occupy and engage the hearts and the minds of the global community? Do they truly understand our Bill of Rights and our ennobled Constitution – the differences between that of a quorum and a filibuster?

Do they honestly “know”?

And if ignorance is bliss – then we are a truly blissful people!
(So – perhaps – it’s not mere coincidence that we are still in the 21st century a Representative Democratic Republic.)
(Perhaps?)
