Pursuit of Happiness

I honestly believe that most objective, honest professionals – Sociologists and Criminologists included – feel that we as a society are just a bit too soft on violent criminals. Defense attorneys, judges and even legislators are frustrated by the already overcrowded prisons and the insufficient funds necessary to contend with such a destructive sociological element. Most persons who are confronted by the criminal element – are essentially without recourse – that is until a violation of their fundamental rights has occurred.

Concomitantly, our noble and idealistic goal as a Country is to help to maintain freedom and Democratic ideals around the globe – and as such we – the United States of America wield a formidable military force that is capable of confronting any aggressor who may challenge our sovereignty, impugn our dignity, and threaten the welfare of our free, Democratic society.

Despite the hundreds of billions of dollars spent on National defense – each and every year – we as a people – in many parts of the Country are simply unable to traverse the streets of our besieged neighborhoods – even by light of day. The elderly or those who are simply vulnerable – are unable to open windows on a hot evening night in many urban areas throughout the Country. We are unable to permit our beloved children to enjoy a leisurely peaceful stroll in the park or to and from school – or from a nearby friends house – in the absence of fear or trepidation.

Yes, we spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year on maintain presence around the world – at least in part – so that our Democratic neighbors can remain free from the threat of tyranny – However – many of us do not feel safe in our homes. Yes, we invest in the protection of the global community from oppression – Yet:

We are unemployed.

We are under-paid.

We are homeless and disenfranchised.

We are in debt as a Nation.

We are bankrupt as a people.

We are often brutalized in our own neighborhoods.

WE ARE CHAMPIONS OF FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY AROUND THE GLOBE.

CURIOUS.
