Something to Aspire to

If you ask me – there are simply far too many leeches bleeding this Country dry. I, personally – at least momentarily – am doing very little to aid in the progression of this great Nation. The complexity of reasons for my incapacitation aside – out of the dozens of mentally ill persons I’ve had the privilege to get to “intimately” know – far too many of them have never (or in some cases – rarely) worked for a living. (that’s never!) If you were to ask me – their primary problem – aside from their emotional instability – is that the great majority of them suffer from a pathological laziness! Indolence, sloth, lethargy is rampant among the mentally ill. They are – as a group – an incurious, drug and alcohol addicted lot. They appear as a whole – to be either very bright or “mentally challenged”. Certainly they (we) are emotionally challenged. And far too many of us – have endured severely dysfunctional problems – parental deprivation, sexual abuse and yes, genetic factors; A Predisposition that manifests due to the introduction of severe stress (diathesis) (Such as killing an adversary you know little or nothing about – who is a father, a brother or a husband or son – implemented on a battlefield during times of war – by essentially psychologically “normal” persons.

“Dual diagnosis” ( that is – mental illness that coincides with drug or alcohol addiction) is very common among “us”. Yes, we often drink and drug to self-medicate – to benumb – to drown our sorrow; Yes – with the ad hoc intent of escaping “ from feelings and/or fantasies that disturb – from failure as a parent, failure in one’s profession – yes – perceived failures in general.

It is my my that drug addicts (that most people in general) feel as though society “owes them” (due to some sort of deprivation). (Most persons appear to obsessed with a seemingly boundless need for self-indulgence). They – so many of “us” can’t seem to get enough of anything. So? Who among us doesn’t feel somehow deprived?

How many incarcerated felons haven’t endured a life replete with familial dysfunction and privation? Are “they” born sociopathic, psychopathic or antisocial? The diseconomies associated with inner city life – certainly don’t aid us as a society in producing happy, healthy, well adjusted adults who will be law-abiding, patriotic citizens.

So what percentage of the population does the great majority of work? How many people (God bless them) work “hard and not smart”? And where – quite frankly would we be in the absence of their toil? “They” have to support the duffers – lazy people of every ilk – who simply don’t know which end of a shovel or hammer to use. Yes, we also should include those who have inherited money and who have never worked a day in their privileged live.

All I can say – is thank God for the artisans and of course those who haul away our trash, clean our toilets and who load our dishwashers – and a special thanks to those who wield a pick and a shovel; To those who quite literally risk their lives safeguarding our lives, the lives of our families – the freedoms we (most of us) hold dear.

God bless the farmers and ranchers – members of the agricultural community – who somehow feed a shoal comprised primarily of duffers.

God bless those who are abused in sweat shops around the world – who produce textiles and an assortment of stuff – so that the duffers can buy stuff – most of which is at bargain prices.

Yes, God bless the rich and idle – for in their absence – we as a populace could not have the honor and the privilege of tending to their needs.

Yes. To clean their soiled shorts; To cloy their insatiable appetites; To cook their food; To construct their mansions; To chauffeur their limousines; To paint and manicure their fingernails: To massage their liposuction-ed and tummy-tucked bodies. To construct their lavish yachts.

Yes, God bless the drug addicts, felons, the indolent mentally ill – miscreants and duffers.

Yes, there are “parasites” and there are “parasites”. God bless them all – For without them – we’d simply have nothing to aspire to.
