Solutions

“Solutions”

So? What do you honestly believe is the most viable solution? What the hell am I talking about? Everything and everyone – crime, addiction, homelessness, illiteracy, gang involvement, organized crime, poverty, sloth or indolence, terrorism, Jihad-ism, greed or avarice, hatred or animus, (those who profess to possess all of the solutions – who are as much of a problem as the great abundance of persons – who have no solutions), the ubiquitous nature of the obscurantist, mental illness, the “mass production” of the sociopath or psychopath, global overpopulation, hunger, disease, illegal immigration, economic globalization, the disintegration of the middle working class, slums and barrios, those who have simply lost the will to progress, to learn, to survive, yes to live.

Do I really have to continue?

Yes, it’s a mess out there, and beyond getting myself on my feet and off of disability – all I really want is to be left alone. And long before I can begin to attempt to change this world for the better – I have to first begin with myself.

Michael Jackson’s song, “I’m starting with the man in the mirror”.

I’m fairly certain that the song was about changing the world one person at a time – beginning obviously with yourself. A simple (idealistic) yet absurd concept in a world rife with those who have simply abandoned their goals, their families, most significantly – themselves. Changing yourself is easier said then done. It takes insight, intuitiveness and self-awareness. Above all – it takes honesty.

So when Michael J. went on a shopping spree to show the world just how rich and important he was – in reality he was displaying contempt for humanity – his disregard for starving and diseased children – his disregard for the billions of individuals around the globe who are struggling with rudimentary survival. Michael simply had no real insight into his very own troubled, selfish, dysfunctional nature. The concept behind the song was excellent – however his complete lack of insight – transformed what could have been acts of compassion or of beneficence – of philanthropy – into hypocritical acts of indifference.

Ironically, most of his fans who idolized him were and are incapable of seeing this rather harsh yet essential truth. And your response will be that of anger and contempt for me and my observation. No, Michael is no longer here to defend himself and perhaps you see me – having berated him posthumously – as feckless or craven. Such an attitude on your part – permits me an unrestrained glimpse into your unsophisticated natures and only bolsters my contention that the great majority of “us” – need to take an honest look at who we are through the eyes of an infirm child –if at all possible – through the filter of a judgmental and judicious – GOD.

No, the world can’t change one person at a time because so many of us are simply engrossed by or in their petty myopic little worlds – we’ve been blinded by our own indifference or by our own arrogance.

              • OR –

We’re far too preoccupied with survival – dealing with nit-picking bosses or competitive bellicose co-workers; Having to wrestle daily with a job or a profession is neither intellectually or artistically

challenging enough.

              • OR –

Outside of it’s boring repetitious nature – we can’t help but wonder whether or not we’ll lose that job due to globalization or to an illegal immigrant; Little Johnny is contending with a severe case of acne and Susan – at the age of thirteen – is pregnant for the third time; Federal, state and local politicians are craven and demagogic; Career politicians are seventy percent ego and thirty percent fluff. Most politicians keep their dicks in their pants and their minds out of the gutter ( at least publicly) — So? — We’re simply too damn busy, far too cynical – or simply lack a realistic self-perception to bother with the challenging and troublesome concept of change.

You’re an obscurantist and a prig and in between the gossip and innuendo about your neighbors and “friends” you superficially breach the topic of statecraft – and you don’t trust politicians with beards or long hair; He has no experience – or he’s merely a scientist or a scholar. And she – well she has a vagina and ovaries. “They” – scientists or scholars – don’t look or act like politicians and they’re too damned cerebral and perhaps – pacifistic to lead. As such – changing society, altering BIG GOVERNMENT – is an even greater challenge. You – most voters don’t trust politicians – however you reject everyone who is an “outsider”. You maintain the status-quo and you perceive the scientists and the scholars (and the outsiders) as too radical – nothing changes and you grow more and more cynical. Campaign finance reform would help to make the political system accessible to outsiders – yet the politicians who are in charge – are simply far more concerned with power and prestige – than they are with saving this great Country from self-annihilation. Perhaps far too few of us are willing to acknowledge that partisan or tendentious extremists – who veer either to far left or to the far right – embrace a political stance which is absolutist; Compromise to them is weakness.

Change doesn’t come readily…

On a far more personal (controversial) note – just how many abolitionists are for woman’s reproductive rights? And can they – or anyone – distinguish between the precious life of an unborn child and the life of a violent recidivist? Is all human life of equal value?

If we are forced to choose between the life of a child and that of an elderly person in the twilight of his or her existence – who would live — and dare I inquire – who would die?

The President of the United States – or one of his devoted body guards?

The life of an American soldier – or that of an enemy combatant?

A terrorist – or the life of your beloved pet?

When we go to war and we kill enemy combatants – there is so called “collateral damage”. That “damage” is all too often comprised of innocent women and children. (Do we marginalize the loss of life?) There is no due process – no trial – no establishment of guilt or innocence.

When there is an undeniable national security breach – an obvious threat to the well being of America – do we or don’t we take immediate and drastic action?

If an invasion force crosses the border – our border – and there is an immediate threat to the health and well being of our citizenry – to our economic viability; When the laws of this land and the

Constitution are essentially neutralized and/or disregarded by a lethal foe – do we respond passively? Or do we assert our right to self-defense? Do we place each individual on trial and do we afford them “due process under the law”? Or do we annihilate them – in self-defense? Are we concerned for their civil or human rights?

Yes – you’ve slaughtered millions of babies in the name of women’s reproductive rights – yet you permit a violent, malevolent occupying force – dispersed throughout our “sovereign” nation to thrive – to operate with relative impunity.

Without the simple recognition that we desperately need personal, social and political change to occur – taking that first critical step – glancing into that intimidating and enlightening mirror….

Now get out there and continue to exterminate those beautiful innocent babies in the name of “women’s reproductive rights” — and disregard the human plague – the metastasis of social cancers who are literally “rivening” this great Country— wait until our National debt has surpassed its insuperable Rubicon.

Don’t worry about it!

Deus ex machina! (Superman to the rescue!)
