Through the eyes of GOD

“Through the eyes of God”

If we could only see the inchoate of the Universe – the start of time – the creation or expulsion of matter – the incipience of immutable laws and the seemingly boundless expanse of space —- perhaps we could then comprehend the concept of nothingness o f multidimensional – of inter-dimensional universes – existing one inside the other yet enigmatically separate and distinct.

We could – through the eyes of God – comprehend the inscrutable – the mystifying, the arcane. We could understand – and as such – make enlightened inquiries into Evolution and devolution – Phylogeny and Biopoesis – yes, into creationism. We could more readily understand the Azoic period of 4.6 billion years ago and the origin of this rock we call planet Earth. We could learn about the formation of bacteria and algae and of marine invertebrates; Plants, fishes, arachnids; We could espy the Cretaceous Jurassic and Triassic periods – the extinction of the dinosaur. And the gradual, incremental appearance of the great ape and sprawling bosky forests.

According to scientific evidence – the Pleistocene epoch and the ice age brought about the extinction of many large mammals.

Merely 10,000 years ago appeared predecessors Homo Sapiens.

Five thousand years B.C. There was the first Egyptian calendar.

360 days/ 12 months / 30 days per year

To the earliest Cities of Mesopotamia.

There was the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.

Yes, there’s simply far too much to expound upon – to outline – even superficially.

Mankind’s accomplishments have been amazing to say the least.

No we cannot go back into time to experience the amazing start of it all – however we can attempt to investigate the World – to go beyond our narrow strip of territory – MAIN STREET U.S.A. – to venture beyond your neighborhood shopping mall; To challenge their land palate or to investigate an entirely divergent culture. Yes, familiarity breeds comfort, control, rote and/or ritual. But it also creates a close-minded, rigid view of the world.

Me, I choose to indulge my senses to expose myself to nearly every culture, theological, political system and diet. I want to study the remnants of the Roman Empire – to experience the Roman coliseums first-hand. I fantasize about traveling throughout Europe to embark on a spiritual journey – from the hallowed halls of the Vatican in Rome – to the spiry cathedrals throughout Spain and Portugal.

I choose to (if invited) – to eat fish and rice with Chinese peasants; A meal of vegetables and rice with Buddhist monks. To vet or peruse art, music, literature, customs, rituals, rules of etiquette. If I could – I would choose to live and work side by side with Arabs, Jew, Koreans (North and South).

I would take the time to learn about each societies history and their unique contributions towards science, technology and mathematics. From the first wheel to the bow and arrow- water irrigation system – to the start of alchemy astronomy, physics and science in general.

I would – if permitted – ascend the Egyptian Pyramid and ruminate over its complex design and construction techniques. I would travel the great wall of China and I would learn what it is to be a polemicist and to no longer be permitted to exercise my privilege to espouse my views.

And I would return to my native Country – the United States of America – with a rudimentary appreciation for the differences. For our mysterious origin – our shared inevitable encounter with death and that which we have in common regarding rudimentary survival. And I would have a far better appreciation for our heterogeneous society and the shear brilliance and creativity by those long faded into anonymity – those representing many Countries, religions, cultures and histories.

From immigrants to African slaves – who often died at the hands of the cruel heartless “masters” – and amazingly – shockingly for over two hundred and fifty years of abuse.

Perhaps we should recognize that there is nothing more important than the survival of the species and that until we learn to pull together to conquer out idiosyncrasies – our irrational fears and violent inclinations – we cannot begin to approach our potentiality.

Maybe the theist should respond to the atheist with prayer and compassion; the atheist – with reverence and what they perceive as enlightenment.

Why is cooperation or collaboration so important to the international community? Because we cannot begin to investigate our own galactic neighborhood – until we learn to coexist peacefully in our own backyard.

And not only would I suggest that we listen to scientists to resolve our petty disputes – to tackle our seemingly insoluble problems – I would dare to posit that there are solutions to be tried that are readily available – ideas that as of yet have not been conceived of and that as such there is hope for the human condition.
If we attempt to see our origin through the eyes of God – Maybe we can again see that regardless of your – of our – ideological stance – despite all of the “essentially trivial and occasionally relevant things” which separate us – we do share a common beginning and ancestry.

And that if we dare to look into the future merely a century – in the eyes of God – or in the interest of nature – whether you are secular or sectarian in your belief – our failure as a species – our extinction as a creature of God – would be a galactic or universal calamity.

For if by some slim chance – we are the only advanced civilization in the universe – the loss – our failure would be cataclysmic.
